County Follows Barrie’s Lead – Mandatory Vaccinations For Staff

In a social Media update from Penetanguishene’s mayor, Doug Leroux, he announced that the County of Simcoe (of which he and other mayors/deputy mayors are board members) has just mandated vaccination for their staff, students and volunteers. The four North Simcoe CAOs have yet to reverse their decision to “wait and see”. Perhaps this will be added to our agendas for next week? I’d like to hear how the County structured it and what alternatives they planned for those who can’t or won’t be vaccinated and for those who can or do work exclusively from home? There is plenty of precedent for this action both from the feds and province and many major employers. The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has been giving guidance to local business and government.

The concerns around civil liberties being impacted by vaccination passports was the subject a CBC interview with the head of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. You may be interested in their position.
