It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my Deputy Mayor, long-time personal friend and community champion Jack Contin.
Jack passed away suddenly yesterday evening with his wife Judy by his side at Georgian Bay General Hospital. I ask that you keep Judy and the entire Contin family in your prayers as they mourn the loss of this remarkable man whose passion and devotion to family and this community were beyond measure.
I’ve just lost my wing-man, and we’ve all lost a kind, thoughtful, considerate and gentle leader tonight and while I know he is now with his creator and ancestors, I am already missing him immensely. I will have flags at town hall lowered in his honour. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Sending our deepest condolences to Judy and family. Midland has lost a great man who dearly loved his community.
Such a very sad day in Midland.
I got to know Jack through his modelling for Taylor & Co. Clothiers and also being a regular client in our store.
He was a pleasure to serve and we always had a brief but meaningful conversation.
He will be missed.
