At its Regular Meeting of Council held on January 19, 2022, Council passed and enacted By-law
2022-6 to authorize voting by internet and telephone for the 2026 Municipal and School Board
Elections. As the Town’s method of voting is conducted digitally through telephone and internet
platforms, we are able to offer our residents an extended voting period and the flexibility to participate
in the election process at their convenience, without the need to attend a physical polling location.
The Voter Assistance Centre will once again be located in the Council Chambers and will be open for
approximately two (2) weeks prior to Voting Day. Electors/Voters requiring assistance can come to
the Voter Assistance Centre to get help in person. Voting locations will also be arranged at the long-term care and retirement homes for the residents.

Candidate Information Sessions
An in-person session, hosted by MMAH for North Simcoe Candidates will be held on Tuesday, April
7, 2026, at the Bourgeois Community Centre from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We have also scheduled a
remote session for the week of April 20 and will advertise the date and time once we have received
confirmation from MMAH.
In addition to the information sessions, the Clerk’s team will be able to provide guidance for
candidates and voters, and resources and tools will be provided on the Town’s website. The Ministry
of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) is also available to respond to any inquiries or to provide
clarification.
Nomination Period
Nomination period opens on Friday, May 1, 2026, and runs through 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026
During this time, candidates can register as participants. Public notice of the nomination process will be communicated through the Town’s website, social media and other communication tools. Candidate Nomination Packages will be available to those who are interested. The Returning Officer/Municipal Clerk or designate will review and certify all nomination papers by 4:00 p.m. on August 24, 2026. If at 4:00 p.m. on the Monday following nomination day, the number of certified candidates for an office is the same as the number to be elected, the Clerk shall immediately declare the candidate elected by acclamation. Should there not be any candidates registered for an office, the nomination period may be reopened to provide for additional nominations.
